SAR COVERALL, T-SHIRT or JACKET – worn on all call-outs.

Compass with mirror and magnetic declination.

Clear medium zip lock bag for area map.

SAR identification tag.

Multi- tool knife i.e. Leatherman or Gerber.

Small notebook and pencil in zip lock bag.

Small light weight personal flashlight.

Trail snacks i.e. M&M peanuts, Trail mix, Jerky, Gum, Lifesavers etc.

One  liter of water.

Whistle.

Bic lighter and windproof matches.

Pen flare with red and green flares.

 

OPERATIONAL CLOTHING ( WINTER )

Light weight underwear – top and bottom

Windproof/waterproof top and bottom  

Midweight socks.

Insulated hiking boots/winter boots.

Mittens or gloves with waterproof shell or lightweights for technical tasks.

Warm toque.

Waterproof gaiters.

 

STUFF SACK – clothing change

Change of socks

Change of headgear – either lighter or heavier depends on what you are wearing.

Change of gloves or mitts.

STUFF SACK – sleeping

Waterproof overhead protection – i.e. Tarp, tent fly, etc.

Space blanket

MISCELLANEOUS

Two liters of water in light wide mouth bottle or thermos.

Large lightweight flashlight.

Sunglasses.

Spare batteries.

Small roll of toilet paper inside plastic bag.

Small personal first aid kit for personal use.

Garbage bag

Two six (6) foot webbing straps with adjustable straps.

Duct tape.

Candle.

 

FOOD – 24 hrs. minimum suggested.

High protein/carbohydrate fat bars i.e. Cliff bars, Power bars, Energy bars.

Dried fruit.

Trail mix.

 

PACK – exterior

7 mm Rope and screw gate carabineer.

Walking and or tracking stick.

 

DUFFLE BAG – remains in your vehicle as it contains specific mission equipment.

Summer sleeping bag.

Winter boots

Spare batteries.

Spare food.

Stove ?

Container to melt snow in etc.

Insulated booties ?
